To all those BATTLE READY in Florida. I will be at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Stuart Florida today, November 19th for a very important BATTLE READY Rally beginning at 6:30 p.m.

PLEASE MAKE TIME TO ATTEND AND INVITE OTHERS TO COME AS WELL!

Who can look around at our world today and say that we do NOT need to step up our involvement in the fight for souls? Daily we are seeing and hearing about more division, protests, riots, violence and a further breakdown of morality.

    Slaughter in Paris.
Syria and the rest of the Middle East.
    Nigeria and Boko Haram.
Europe and the so called refugee crisis/invasion.
Attacks on marriage from every side.
    Legalized sodomy.
    Threats from within the church.
    China threatens.
    Talk of World War 3.
It goes on and on and on!

The need to rally together and both create and take part in events that can encourage and strengthen hearts, minds and souls is of paramount importance! Many have ignored the signs of the times. Many still do! So many of us are preoccupied with our entertainment, hobbies and/or other worldly distractions.

Some just don’t want to hear about these things. “They’re depressing. I’d rather just focus on the nice things, the enjoyable things in life.” Doing that doesn’t make the evil go away. In fact, to…[Read more]

  • Friday it is! Had a HECTIC year this last month… This week has been relatively calm and I am enjoying the chance to think about my clients and projects, follow up on issues, have meaningful conversations, and even pop home to surprise my wife with a bunch of flowers! Of course the next few weeks are madness, but then again, I feel most Blessed!

    Dark Times Demand Great Heroes

Please share this video. Help inspire more people to pray the rosary frequently. The attempts of man to solve the world’s problems apart from God’s truth is useless. We only see more problems develop.

We have been warned over and over from heaven, through the approved apparitions of the Blessed Mother, that when we persist in sinful behavior we find chaos and destruction. This occurs in our own personal lives and we see it throughout the world on every level.

Our Blessed Mother has also told us repeatedly that we should pray the rosary everyday to bring peace to our lives and to combat evil. There is an enemy that is trying to destroy our souls and we are foolish to ignore the reality of this enemy or to fight against his attacks with conviction and perseverance.

We all need to respond in this spiritual fight and embrace the weapons of heaven.

With all the battles that are raging on in our world, those that we see and those that we don’t, those in the physical and those in the spiritual, it can be a struggle at times to not lose hope. It can be a real challenge to not become fearful or discouraged.

We need to remember that where sin abounds, grace abounds all the more. (Romans 5:20)

Please watch and share this powerful video reminder of where true strength is found.

There are still countless souls to go get for God! What Are We Waiting For?

    God bless and strengthen you!

BATTLE READY – Be Not Afraid!

  • I am in Israel and have been here for the last 3 days. Sadly with all of the issues in Jerusalem, we have not been able to visit even though we have had the time today. Tel Aviv is an incredibly cosmopolitan city and I have to keep reminding myself that I am Israel and not Europe. I have also found the lack of Jewishness a little frightening. All I have seen is skimpy clothing and lots of electric bicycles…I did get to have a personal tour of St Michael\’s in Jaffa by a Father Anthony (just by chance), including a look at the Vatican offices and their own personal chapel dating from King Louis the 9th.

Today is the anniversary of the battle of Lepanto. In 1571 an army of Catholic warriors called the Holy League took on the Ottoman Turk Muslims in a critical naval battle that would decide the fate of Christendom in Europe at that time. Through the intercession of the Blessed Mother and the faithful combat of thousands of men, the Catholic faith was preserved. Pope St. Pius V recognized October 7th as the feast of Our Lady of Victory crediting the Blessed Virgin with the victory. Since then the name of this feast day has been changed to the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary.

This wise and spiritually insightful Pope understood the importance of Our Lady’s part in the fight for Christianity. He called on all of Europe to pray the rosary faithfully, pleading with heaven for the strength and courage to stand tall in the fight. The Blessed Virgin, our Spiritual General, responded with her protection. She cast her eyes on the Holy League and dispensed the necessary graces from her Son to ensure a victory.

    These are different days.

The threats against Christendom are worldwide and more insidious than ever, but the call to stand up and fight for what is holy, noble and true is just as necessary as it has been from the beginning of Christianity. We are STILL asked to…[Read more]

Does anyone still send Christmas cards? I would love to know – perhaps we need to be sending more than ever in our current PC society?

    • 2 people like this.
    • Hi Mark, I do. Actually quite a few. one or two dozens every year. Some of those we sent as a family, some are personal to my friends or my wife’s friends.
      Always handwritten :-}

We usually select something special every year – once it was greek catholic or orthodox icons; in some other years we hunted down replicas of old-style Christmas cards. In another year, it was reproductions of famous pieces of arts (mostly paintings) connected somehow to the theme of Christmas. We often buy Christmas cards created / painted by handicapped people (who paint by their mouth or legs). For very special correspondance, we sometimes create the cards ourselves.
Real Christmas cards are a nice way to counterbalance the ‘commercial Christmas fever’ raging from end of October…. Especially the ones with short quotes from the Gospels.

My brother’s wife creates handwritten Christmas songbooks for young (at heart) family members for the last three or four years – only a few handwritten and drawn pages of lyrics and score of a few Christmas carols or other Christmas songs in Hungarian translation. It is part of their Chirstmas gift, and we can at least try to sing them together when the larger family reunites on the second day of Christmas.

    • @mark – I still do but only to friends who do not have access to the Internet, including my prison pen pals, and those who do get an e-card from me. @craig – As early as September, I start receiving Christmas cards from various Catholic organizations, and these are the ones I use. They are beautifully designed and have appropriate Christmas themes and greetings. Definitely no “Happy Holidays” nonsense there. The organizations do expect a donation in exchange for the cards, and that is fine with me.

      • I send Christmas Cards, but insist on sending only those with a Nativity scene and /or verse. It is after all, first and foremost, a commemoration of the Birthday of Christ, and despite the materialism surrounding this great feast, we must be living reminders of Christ’s daily presence in our world.

      • We may even have some ecards right here on Awestruck…

The Holy Father\’s prayer intentions for September:

Universal: That opportunities for education and employment may increase for all young people.
Evangelization: That catechists may give witness by living in a way consistent with the faith they proclaim.

This Is Something You Need To Listen To!

There are many people who are sensing that some kind of “storm” is coming to our world or has already begun. I am speaking of the kind that shows itself in the form of world events such as international war and strife, economic tribulation, societal unrest, etc. We have all seen and know that tension in society has risen greatly.

This “storm” is, more than anything else, the result of our moral decline. It is intensifying because we have sent the message to heaven that we do not take seriously the call for conversion. Many have rejected God and mock Him in various ways.

But this is a great time of hope as well! We need to be looking at these trials the right way. God loves us and will shake us up to try and get our attention for the sake of our salvation.

It would be wise for us to consider the warnings that we are receiving in these times.

Here is a LINK to a webinar from Johnnette Benkovic from Women of Grace. The guest is Fr. Joseph Esper and he is speaking about the very serious days that we are living in, and that are coming.

It is very important that we as Christians take these messages to prayer and discernment. There are many in our world who do not recognize the signs of the times. Yet there are many voices and…[Read more]

    • Thanks, Mark. I will make an effort to listen to the interview on the link you gave us. “Women of Grace” is not a program just for women. I hear many good things on her show, but I do wish she would change the name of the program so that more men would feel it is a show with a message for them, too. Yes?

    • Mark…..I just finished listening to the program you recommended with Fr. Joseph Esper. It was very interesting but I started to lose faith(?) in Fr. Esper when he made mention of the 1984 Consecration of the World to the Immaculate Heart of Mary by St. Pope John Paul 11. He, in effect, cast serious doubt on the adequacy of that Consecration, stating that it has yet to take place in the manner requested by Mary at Fatima. There has long been a movement (I think it’s called “America Needs Fatima”) that has similarly stated that the Consecration of 1984 was insufficient and has yet to be done properly. Lucia, herself, refuted that, clarifying (I believe in writing) that, in fact, Pope John Paul’s consecration of the world to the Immaculate Heart in 1984 was done properly and accepted by Mary. Father also alluded to some statements made by Mary where she speaks “almost on a daily basis.” I may be wrong, but I think he is referring to Medjgorie, and that series of visions over many years has been refuted by many and has not been yet approved by the Church. Now, to say something positive…..I must say I appreciated your own comments above and in particular the following: “This “storm” is, more than anything else, the result of our moral decline. It is int…[Read more]

      • Hi Stephen, thank you for your comments! I however cannot claim credit for the post – I copy and paste from Doug Barry of EWTN & Battle Ready fame (among others). Unfortunately I am poorly schooled in the visions of the people of the Church. I will copy in @jenaybarry, who is Doug’s daughter, who could perhaps comment…I must say, I also found the program interesting!!

    • Mark…..I just noticed that the name signed at the end of your entry above is signed as “Doug.” Just wondering if that is a screen name you are using. IN any case, I noticed that “Doug” signed off with the prayer petition: “Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us.” My wife and I visited Fatima a few years ago…..and there is a live stream you can visit that shows the Chapel of Apparitions where the visits of Mary to the three children took place. It is a 24/7 opportunity. The same with the Grotto of Lourdes. I don’t have the web site in front of me but will post it some time soon.
